interested in getting plugged in?
Below you will find brief descriptions of the serving opportunities at Redemption Church. If you see an area you are interested in trying, just fill out a Connect Card on Sunday (don’t forget to select the team you’re interested in joining) or click here to let us know you’re interested.
Audio
The audio team serves on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings. Thursday evening is when the worship team practices, so this allows the audio team member to adjust levels on the sound board and prepare for Sunday. Sunday mornings the audio team volunteer will arrive early to run through worship practice with the worship, lighting, and visual teams. Some experience running a sound board is preferred, but training can teach you many things as you work alongside an experienced audio team volunteer
Cafe
The café team arrives early on Sundays to prepare coffee, drinks, and food for purchase. Their motto is “Service with a smile!” Volunteers routinely refill the coffee and supplies, blend smoothies, sell food and drink items, wipe down tables, and interact with church members.
Care
The Care team helps families that are dealing with sickness or grief by providing a meal. The Care team is broken down into several smaller teams that work together to create a complete meal and deliver it to the family. Teams work on rotation so that the same team is not always responsible for a meal. Meals are provided at the volunteer’s expense. Team members are asked to provide home-cooked dishes and not store-bought items. If you enjoy cooking and ministering to families in times of hardship, this is the team for you.
RC Kids
Children’s church volunteers are extremely important in keeping our children’s ministry growing. Services are high energy with loud music, dancing, singing, and games. Volunteers should be prepared to match the energy level of the room. You may be checking in families at the check-in desk, running the presentation, or monitoring children as they come to service. Each role is important. All volunteers must pass a background check before serving with children.
Events
Our events team is made up of volunteers who plan, decorate, run, and tear down all events around the church. If you have a talent for working to make a vision come to life through teamwork, this is your calling. Team members must be willing to work with others, take direction from leaders, and spend time planning and executing the team plan.
Lighting
The lighting team arrives early on Sunday morning to plan the lighting scene during worship and service. The volunteers work in tandem with the visual team to create a presentation that is impactful but not distracting. If you are looking for an easy way to get involved behind the scenes on Sunday morning, this is your team.
Nursery
The nursery team is broken down into volunteers that help with specific age groups. Infants, toddlers, and preschool age teaching volunteers are needed weekly to care for the babies as the parents spend time learning from the Word. This position is rewarding for the volunteer, no matter what age group you are working with. Background checks are required before you can serve with children.
parking
Our parking team are the “front-line” of our church. These are the smiling faces and warm welcomes you first receive as you drive up. Parking team volunteers work rain or shine to help everyone get parked and into the church. A willingness to escort arriving visitors to the door with an umbrella during inclement weather is appreciated. A willingness to smile, wave, and greet others is a requirement.
Guest Services
The guest services desk is the “go-to” location if you need information on church events or groups, want to sign-up for an upcoming event, or need assistance with the website or app. Volunteers are friendly, welcoming, and always ready to go out of their way to assist. These volunteers should also be familiar with upcoming church events, the website, and Church Center app.
prayer
The prayer team is comprised of volunteers willing to stand in the front of the sanctuary near the end of service and pray with others. There must be a willingness to pray aloud with strangers at a moments notice. Most prayer volunteers are couples that pray together with others as they are approached. If you and your spouse are gifted in prayer and willing to serve, we would love to have you join us. We ask that you not use your prayer language when praying with strangers, but feel free to do so when continuing to pray for their need throughout the week.
Host team
The host team oversees our SWAT Hub room and our monthly Discover classes. This team helps setup and put away items needed for Discover events. In the SWAT Hub, volunteers will ensure snacks are put out for Sunday volunteers, help SWAT members check-in, pass out lanyards, and accept lanyards/check-out SWAT after service.
visual
The visual team is responsible for the screens, lyrics, and videos you see on a Sunday morning. Volunteers work as a team to download media, lyrics, and imagery weekly. The visual team uses ProPresenter to facilitate the presentation of song lyrics, sermon notes, pictures, and videos. Experience using computers is an absolute must for volunteers. Volunteers are trained how to download, upload, import, and build presentations. While initially this position may seem overwhelming, volunteers will tell you that it is not that complex once you are familiar with it. Great for detail-oriented team players who like to be behind the scenes but still have responsibility.
Greeter
The greeter team is our other “front line” team. These friendly faces welcome you at the door with a bulletin and greeting. Volunteers also help direct first-time visitors on where to find the children’s church, nursery, restrooms, free coffee, and sanctuary. While kindness and helpfulness are a must for this position, conversations must be kept brief to keep the doors from getting congested. If you enjoy meeting others with a smile and a quick hello, this is a good place for you.
worship
The worship team is comprised of volunteers with talent in instruments and vocals. These volunteers are chosen by the worship leader to serve on a scheduled basis. When scheduled, volunteers meet on Thursday evening for practice and arrive at 8:15 on Sunday morning for rehearsal. Volunteers must be willing to lay their ego to the side and accept direction from the worship leader. Not all who apply to join the worship team will be chosen.
RC youth
The youth leadership team is a group of male and female volunteers who work with the middle and high school aged students that attend Wednesday evening services. These volunteers must have a firm hand to keep students in line, while also ministering to them in love and actions. Wednesday services include a meal, worship, games, and a lesson. Volunteers are expected to arrive by 6 pm and stay until the last of the students have gone home. Background checks are required for all volunteers working with children under 18.
Serve team
The serve team is the hands and feet of our church. This group of volunteers comes together every 2nd Saturday of each month to work. Monthly projects can be related to church maintenance or local ministry needs. All ages are welcome to come help. Meet at Redemption on 2nd Saturdays at 8am to participate.
